AJ or anyone,

as far as AUDYA 4/5 goes...

what is available for memory expansion?
will this be new sound chips?
just memory for future new sounds?
memory for new guitar audio loops?
256MB? how many open memory slots?
when will it be available? etc

please elaborate on this...

i really hope they improve the "atmosheric", "synth" (modern dance like), "choir", sounds
because those are quite weak IMO

all else, "bread and butter" sounds are pretty good

JCkeeys,

Yes, it will. All the current AUDYA's too will also have these updates from the factory.

Leezone - nothing I can disclose to the public ... for now.

Thanks,

AJ

Yeah, c'mon, AJ!

Lee has about a one to two week window where he likes anything, so you had better start updating and improving the Audya series MUCH, much faster than you already have!

Or, once again, the tenor of his posts will ALL be about what it lacks (whatever he thinks of THIS week! ) rather than how happy he is with it!

Diki,

FYI, i like my G-70 just as much NOW as i did when i bought it OVER 3 years ago...
actually more...
why, because G-70 was UPDATED,

so asking to update something to make it BETTER for everyone is a win...

would it be better to ask when the NEXT AUDYA comes out to entice buyers to re-buy a new keyboard with a "minor" upgrade as has been the case with the "T" series?

anything that can be done to increase the "small" memory in AUDYA is a GREAT thing IMO

Lee,

What was missing on the Roland that the Audya provides?

Or, were you just looking for another board with different sounds and/or styles?

nothing top secret about the ram at all.

The only purpose for the ram is to load in *.ins sounds. Please don't be misled into thinking its going to mean huge upgrades in the audyas capabilities.

Unlike almost every other keyboard, the audya does not need ram expansion to load new guitar loops, audio loops, styles, mp3 or wav songs, etc etc, all these are stored on the hard drive which has bags of room.

If you don't currently use the *.ins sounds now you wont need the additional ram

The LIVE in your face sound
Play one and you'll see

and the styles on AUDYA (at least LATIN) are WAY better

Tonewheel,

i THINK you are wrong about the guitar loops
i think those are in RAM, and not on the HD

but i'm not sure, anyone?

Thanks Lee...I'll probably never have the opportunity to play an Audya, so I'll have to go on the demos I've heard, which are quite good.

Judging by these demos, I have to say it's not the kind of sound I'd be crazy about, but then neither is the sound I love (Yamaha), one that you'd like very much.

At least we both can agree that we like our respective choices, (me ¢¾ Yamaha, you ¢¾ Audya) more than we do Roland.

I truly hope to get to play an Audya (and a Korg) in real life, as that's the best way to evaluate the instruments.

AJ, guitar audio loops in HD or RAM/ROM

256MB of extra memory,

hopefully for BRAND NEW STUFF,
not more of the same

all Audio loops are on the hard drive and instantly streamed. Tonewheel is right.

Lee,
The Audio Guitar parts (bass and accoustic/electric) are in ROM. The User Guitar parts are stored in HD and loaded into RAM when the corresponding style is called up. The Audio Drum (both User and Factory) are in HD and streemed when needed.

Thanks,

AJ

AJ,

can you explain a little USER GUITAR

i mean , works like audio drums, where you record your guitar grooves in all keys @ a specific tempo?

if so, i don't see anyone doing this as it takes tons of time and skill to pull it off successfully

thanks AJ

When you have a user guitar loop that is audio , you would copy that to the hard drive. When it is used with a style, it would streem from the hard drive.

Leezone,

You are talking about user guitar loops, correct? They would not go into rom. They would be copied to the hard drive.

i am talking the guitar grooves/loops that resize in AUDYA OOTB, that the styles use right now

and those are in ROM, not on HD

i'm not talking USER GUITAR (those are in HD)

but i'm still wondering, what exactly these are, and how they work
gotta crack open the manual again
